SCJA  Schuylkill County Jeep Alliance - Skook Rider History

We are focused on fun, family orientated activities for all its members and fellow jeep owners. The club attentions are on maximizing the jeep and off road experience, meets others, learn and share ideas.

We are lucky enough to drive one of the most unique vehicles in the world to give us maximum pleasure both on and off road. While meeting other like-minded people, our jeep family has been able to grow and flourish over these few years.

Our objective is to foster an atmosphere that ensures the best care of the jeep community, our club and the environment.

We do NOT partake in drama; wreck less driving, drugs or alcohol while wheeling or abusing the beautiful land we ride on or venue that accepts riders to ride freely. We respect other jeepers and clubs; we ride with other groups, while keeping our core members in highest regard.

Everyone has problems, issues, hang ups, but one place many of us go to get away from that hardship or “Adulting” is the trails. We do a lot in the club, many put forward much of their own resources so we are pretty tight knit who relies on one another.

Our page/forum Schuylkill County Jeep Alliance and Friends is for all Jeep owners and off roaders to connect, a place to share experiences, to help one another, learn, and post pics and videos of out excursions. It’s an outreach to expand your jeep experience and meet others.

The last page wasn’t as interactive, so we expanded what was once a private page to open by invite. We are simply a social club, so the same, but very different from other clubs. We don’t have fees, if we buy things it’s shared, distributed evenly, even cookouts after rides we all bring a dish or help in some way.

Short version, let’s be honest, it’s a great hobby that gets us away from the everyday rigors and we just wanna get away. We have picked up some great members who really do a lot. And have great supporters who help us in need.
When we start to get to serious and all weird with rules and structures we lose the fun.

Like the million jeep pages we are all the same, this is just more local. It’s a great point to help each other, learn, and got to know more people. Some on the page don’t even own a jeep, but they love the life and help that life or the groups get along in that life.

We are simple really; help one another in good and bad times if we can on and off the trail. We want to ride, camp, cook out, wrench, fish, and socialize as much as we can. We have become strong enough over the years to where we travel together, attend events, and have become stronger as a group.

I love riding with our crew and others but know where my family resides. We will always keep great connections with other groups to join up for events to even have more fun later and show others our area. We always welcome anyone who enjoys the jeep experience.
Years back, we tried to join local clubs with little or no success. The clubs in the area where great, however, we never felt we fit in quite well and always wanted to know why would you have to pay money to hang out together? We wanted something different, this structure was great for others, we wanted something that brought people a little closer.

We started SCJA in the hopes to break the mold. Some clubs get so big they forget what it’s all about. We always thought like everything else we are more than a number for annual fees. Staying small allowed us to be selective, this allowed us to really be unique. We wanted a club that if we wanted to have an event we can do great, but also small enough to have everyone over for burgers and dogs in the backyard. We hear and see a lot of groups talk about family, we really wanted a club that felt like one. We have our private members only page, but created a support page for those that may fit the mold to come join along for rides. Not everyone is the same, we just wanted what fit for us and current members.

Our first trip was one jeep, two crazy people with camera phones and free time looking for something we had no idea what is was until it fell on us later. Whether the summer to find shade on the mountain or running out the door for that first snow fall like little kids. We wanted to get away from the daily grind ad to get the kids away from the computers. It started to work, it really felt great.

Now each member from day one allowed us to grow stronger, better, and closer together. We grew for a while, started to go join other groups on the trails and for meet and greets. Berks County Jeep was pretty big with fun times, Lancaster Jeep and Friends turned us onto the Toys for Tots events, and our Local younger group the Dukes brought that old feeling back again to test the limits a bit more and explore. However, over time we became ourselves, created our own identity.

Today our group is stronger than ever. Nowadays, we have great rides, live and grow together. We add members over time to keep the core number low and friends page high. Our group has been blessed in finding the right members who compliment and strengthen our club. We wouldn't change anything for the world.

We promote drama free riding, wrenching parties, educational trail experiences, and real unity among the group and will for years to come because we will always learn and grow. I know god forbid if anything happened to me this group would stand the test of time because it was created weird for a reason. But then again, being weird is a fun way to go through life. We get lost together, that is because we all are still learning our ways and will continue to for as long as we can together.

SCJA what are we about?
